Portillo Wines
Bodegas Salentein

Regular price: $9.99    Sale Price: $8.99

Situated on a high plateau in the Uco Valley of Argentina’s Mendoza region, the Portillo winery and vineyards are dedicated to making superb quality wines for everyday enjoyment. Harmony with nature is readily apparent in every aspect of this property, which is designed to deliver wines that capture and respect the pristine beauty of their birthplace.

The Portillo winery (Portillo means “portal” or “gateway”) is largely built of local materials, including stones quarried from a nearby valley. This enables the facility to blend in tastefully with the surrounding environment. Ancient masonry techniques practiced by the indigenous population in bygone times were revived for its construction in the late 1990s, providing new and welcome opportunities for skilled local craftsmen.

Sauvignon Blanc
Greenish yellow, with golden tints. A wine with supple aromas, reminiscent of citrus fruits like pink grapefruit, tropical fruits, most noticeably, white ripe peach, intermingled with rue. Crispy, persistent palate, with marked acidity. Ideal for seafood, salads, pizza, sushi, white meat or to drink as an aperitif.

Cabernet Sauvignon
A dense & brooding wine packed with plum and prune aromas backed by chocolate and black pepper accents. Full-bodied with good structure, round lush tannins, medium acidity and a long, velvety finish. A wonderful match for red meat, lamb dishes and robust vegetarian entrees.”

An intense red-purple color, with an equally intense nose of plum and bramble. Round and full on the palate, delivering a swathe of ripe, fresh black fruit held together by lush tannins. Try this with a lightly spicy beef or lamb and date tagine.

Pinot Noir
Light crimson red color. Cherries, ripe blackberries and a subtle note of spice on the nose. Full-bodied and rich, this wine has a well-balanced palate with sweet, soft tannins leading to an elegant finish. Enjoy with grilled meats, seared tuna steaks and fresh salmon.
