Cotes du Rhone

2009 CDR Le Pas de la Beaume
Cave de Cairanne, France

Created in 1929, the Cave de Cairanne now represents some 200 growers controlling 1200 hectares, 80% of the appellation. The vines are planted on clay and limestone soils, with the finest wines coming from the profusion of stony hillsides in the area. Le Pas de la Beaume exhibits a pleasant nose of red fruit, garrigue (Provence countryside) and spices. The mouth is fruitful and supple with a long lasting finish. The tannic structure reveals a good ageing potential.
