Although the Bogle family has been farming since the mid-1800’s, it was not until 1968 that the father and son team of Warren and Chris Bogle planted their first 20 acres of wine grapes in Clarksburg, California. In this small farming community nestled along the Sacramento River, the Bogle family’s years of hard work have developed into an impressive grape growing operation, as well as a nationally acclaimed winery.

Today Bogle Vineyards farms over 1,200 acres of wine grapes in the Delta region. While the winery was established ten years after the first grapes were planted, its success has grown tremendously along with the vineyards.

Chardonnay
Bogle winemakers have again hand-crafted a perfectly balanced, easy to drink Chardonnay. Using the techniques of barrel fermentation, sur-lies aging and partial malolactic fermentation, winemakers have layered flavor upon flavor, creating a complex wine with generous character. Classic Clarksburg personality shines through in the green apple and pear notes, while a bit more tropical pineapple shows through.

Sauvignon Blanc
Classically made, using reductive winemaking techniques and cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks, this wine has retained the true varietal character of the sauvignon blanc grape.

Essential red
A compelling blend of California’s finest plantings of Old Vine Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah, this wine surpasses all expectation for pure enjoyment and approachability.

Merlot
Concentrated and full-bodied, the 2008 Merlot is a study in contrasts. Subtle and silky, yet bright and intense, this deep red wine is multifaceted. Dark plum fruit greets the nose, while the brighter fruit of summer cherry dazzles the palate.

Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is a grape that takes its own sweet time, slowly lingering to ripen on the vine. This wine rewarded by its reluctance. Unabashed cherry and rich plums get your attention, while touches of drying tobacco leaves evoke a memory you can’t quite pin down.

Petite Sirah
Thirty-two years after it was first produced by the Bogle family in 1978, Petite Sirah is today considered Bogle’s “heritage” varietal. Once again the trademark qualities shine through in a wine that is the perfect integration of fruit and oak. Full-bodied on the entry, aromas of black plum jam and toasty oak set the stage for what is to come. Vibrant boysenberries and luscious fruit are framed by serious tannins at the end

Old Vine Zinfandel
Head-trained and dry farmed vines continue to be the source for Bogle’s Old Vine Zinfandel. These gnarly old vines produce concentrated fruit of quality and intensity. This full-bodied vintage shows itself with rich black raspberry notes that round out in the mouth, accompanied by the scents of summer fruit jam bubbling on the stove.

Pinot Noir
The Pinot Noir from Bogle represents some of the best varietal growing regions our state has to offer. Fruit from the cool confines of the Russian River Valley, from the coastal hills of Monterey and from the unique Clarksburg Delta combine to create a garnet-colored wine, varietally correct and food friendly.

Phantom
Phantom has reappeared…Bogle’s heady apparition of fierce berry and sensual spice returns to haunt wine lovers. Marked by a bright entry, a full-bodied mid palate and a firm finish, this wine showcases the best of these three unique varietals.  Rich black raspberries and briary boysenberries vividly surround the nose and palate, while the decadence of cocoa-dusted pomegranate is enticingly complex. Touches of juniper, cedar and black pepper edge toward the full-bodied fruit, charming you to take another sip. Over two years in 1, 2 and 3 year old American oak capture and concentrate the essence of the Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Mourvedre, creating yet another luscious and intense red wine, impossible to ignore. Though the wine is remarkable now, age in the bottle will only integrate these distinct varietals more. Welcome the winery ghost into your home again with this latest vintage, and enjoy with full-flavored and hearty meals…before it vanishes.
